Ron Gallagher enters his first year as a volunteer track & field/cross country coach at UNLV. Gallagher comes to UNLV with an extensive background in physical therapy with over 15 years of experience in the field, primarily at Comprehensive Therapy Centers in Las Vegas. He has over 100 hours of continuing education in advanced manual therapy as well as the medicine of running/endurance training courses. He has been responsible for the strength, conditioning and training hundreds of runners from all levels, amateurs to professional athletes.
Gallagher is a certified USA Track & Field Level I coach (USATF1). He has hopes of becoming a certified specialist in strength and conditioning (CSCS) in 2012 and/or a USA Triathlon Level I coach, as well.
He has run two full marathons, three half Ironman distance triathlons, as well as, 20 other shorter distanced triathlons and running events. He is passionate about running, runners and the science of running.
Gallagher earned both his bachelors and masters degrees from UNLV in 2000. His bachelors degree was in science with an emphasis in sports injury management, while his masters was in physical therapy.
