A former four-year standout for the Rebels, Casey Lektorich begins her first season as a volunteer assistant coach for UNLV, and will work with the javelin throwers.

Lektorich finished her athletic career at UNLV after an outstanding season in 2002-03, which included a new school record and a ninth-place finish at the NCAA West Regionals. She also placed third in the 2003 Mountain West Outdoor Championships in the javelin, one year after claiming a fifth-place finish in the 2002 MWC Outdoor Championships as a junior. Her throw of 153-02 at the 2003 Cal-Nevada Championships in Northridge, Calif., easily set a new school record in the javelin.

Prior to UNLV, Lektorich competed for two years at Washington State, and as a walk-on threw a NCAA provisional javelin toss of 155-04.00 in her first-ever collegiate meet. That performance broke WSU's freshman record in the event, and was the sixth-best throw in Pac-10 Conference history.

Lektorich is a native of Spokane, Wash.
