ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV track & field saw two of its own run their way into the top five of the program's all-time indoor performance list in the 800m and 60m hurdles Saturday afternoon at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. Additionally, the team posted seven top-eight finishes, which included a victory in the 800m by Avi'Tal Perteete.
Jasmyne Graham and Perteete's performances placed their names in the program's performance list. The former clocked a time of 8.41 in the 60m hurdles, which was seventh best in the race, to move into third at UNLV. The latter, on the other hand, registered a personal-best time of 2:07.84 in the 800m to rank fourth at UNLV.
By virtue of their times, Graham and Perteete sit atop the Mountain West's performance list for their respective events. Their teammate Najia Hudspeth sits first in the MW in the 400m. Drea Austin is second in both the 60m and 200m, while MacKenna Howard is second in the shot put.
The two-day meet held at the Albuquerque Convention Center, which will be the site of the MW Indoor Championships later this month, featured competition from No. 7 Louisiana State, No. 8 Texas, No. 10 Mississippi, No. 22 Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas State, CSUN, Fort Lewis, New Mexico Highlands, New Mexico State, Sacramento State, Stephen F. Austin, UC Davis, UNR, UTEP and the host Lobos.
QUOTABLE: "This meet was a great opportunity for our team to learn how to stay composed when they line up with some of the best athletes in the country," said head coach Yvonne Wade. "We still have a lot of work to do, but they are learning a lot and will be ready."
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels return to Seattle next weekend (February 9-10) for the Husky Classic, the second indoor meet hosted by Washington that UNLV will participate in this season.
