Rebels Score 10 Top-Five Showings At Classic

ALBUQUERQUE (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV indoor track & field team closed out the second and final day of the New Mexico Classic in Albuquerque with second-place finishes from Emily Blok and Kelsey Williamson in the 60m and 800m, respectively. In all, the Rebels had nine individuals and their distance medley relay record top-five showings at the Albuquerque Convention Center this weekend.
Blok, who finished fourth in the 200m Friday, finished second in the 60m Saturday with a final time of 7.60. Zadia Bryant also ran in the 60m and placed two spots behind Blok with a time of 7.62.
Williamson and Brett Zorich finished second and third, respectively, in the 800m. Both set personal bests in the event, as the former did so in 2:11.19, while the latter ran a time of 2:12.26. The pair were half of the distance medley quartet that crossed the line third Friday.
Six other Rebels notched personal bests on Saturday, as well. In the 400m, Secoral Yanez (56.35), Christine Lowe (56.39) and Lindsay Roach (57.48) outkicked their previous marks. Myshauna Alexander threw the shot put 38-9.75 (11.83m), while Zadia Bryant leapt 37-6.00 (11.43m). Erin Morris ran her preliminary heat in the 60m hurdles in 8.65.
The Rebels return to action next weekend at the NAU Invitational in Flagstaff, Ariz. It will be the second trip to the City of Seven Wonders, as the squad participated in the Mountain T's Invitational on Jan. 27-28.
