UNLV Ends Regular Season

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's track and field closed out its regular season on Saturday at two meets, with the majority of the Rebels competing at the Husky Classic while a few were at Northern Arizona Classic.

UNLV senior sprinter led the Rebel contingent at the Husky Classic, as she finished fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.63 and also turned in a fast time of 24.88 in the 200 meters. Lawson was one of four Rebels who turned in top-10 times in the 60 meters, as Shahnel Woodley (7.65) finished fifth, Candise Maxwell (7.81) came in eighth and Zadia Bryant (7.83) ninth.

Woodley posted a time of 25.31 in the 200 meters as well, while Meia Tezeno ran a 24.57, Maxwell a 25.73 and Bryant a 25.97. Maxwell also posted a top-10 finish in the 60-meter hurdles, coming in ninth with a time of 9.04.

Other performances on the track included Jennifer Shearer (17:27.59) in the 5,000 meters, Christine Lowe (57.41) in the 400 meters and Isabelle Stoate (5:03.17) in the mile.

In the field events Talyah Polee posted a mark of 18-2.25 in the long jump while Deja Edwards (17-7.00) and Portia Ford (15-8.25) also competed in the event. Claire Schreiner cleared 5-2.50 in the high jump as well.



UNLV also had a group of throwers competing at the Northern Arizona Classic in Flagstaff, Ariz., and Amanda Bingson had a strong Saturday to lead that group.

She posted a sixth-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 52-3.25 and a 10th-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 40-1.25. Bingson was closely followed in the weight throw by Olivia Raya, who finished eighth with a distance of 49-11.25.
