Rebels Perform Well At Home Meet|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Rebel track & field program opened up the 2014 outdoor season with a strong showing in its own UNLV Track Classic held at Myron Partridge Stadium and Sheila Tarr-Smith Field. UNLV claimed the top spot in 11 of the 19 events that it entered with numerous personal bests. Besides the host Rebels, Utah Valley, Southern Utah, Alaska-Anchorage and Colorado College competed in this weekend's meet.
Individual first-place finishers for UNLV were: Kenia Bonilla in the 200m (24.63); Joniece Ervin in the 100m hurdles (14.27); Noela Estrada in the 400m hurdles (1:02.85); Auzsane Crowe-Carter in the 3000m (10:24.45); Laura Affeld in the 3000m steeplechase (11:37.90); Madison Johonnot in the high jump (5-7/1.70m); Olivia Hudson in the long jump (18-9.75/5.73m) and Vanessa Sierra in the discus (142-4/43.39m).
With this meet occurring one week after the conclusion of the indoor campaign and the 2014 Mountain West Indoor Championships, the Rebels rested many student-athletes and others competed in other track & field disciplines.
