Rebels Claim 10 First-Place Finishes At Home Meet|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program hosted the Randall Cunningham Invitational & Sheila Tarr-Smith Multis over the weekend at Myron Partridge Stadium & Sheila Tarr-Smith Field. Overall, the Rebels claimed six first-place finishes - 10 total in the collegiate-only standings - at the two-day meet.
Three former Rebels competed in the meet and took first in their own disciplines. Amanda Bingson broke her own stadium record by nearly 18 feet with a measurement of 246-5 (75.12) in the hammer throw. The previous mark was listed at 228-10. Christine Spence and Uchechi Anunkor took the top spots in the 100m hurdles (13.39) and the 200m (24.09), respectively.
Individual first-place finishes for UNLV were: Ashley Franklin in the 100m (11.91 PB); Monay Meggs in the 200 (24.14); Alva Castillo in the 400m (55.73 PB); Auzsane Crowe-Carter in the 1500m (4:31.90 PB); Noela Estrada in the 400m hurdles (1:02.75); Kylee Vandenberg in the heptathlon (4,646 points); Madison Johonnot in the high jump (5-4.25/1.63m); Akia Armstrong in the long jump (19-0.75/5.81m); and Cortney Miller in the hammer (182-4/55.57m).
In the heptathlon, Vandenberg finished first in four of the seven events with top honors in the 200m (26.05), shot put (36-5.75/11.12m), javelin (120-10/36.82m) and 800m (2:23.84).
Both of UNLV's "A" relays claimed first in their races with the 4x100m quartet running a time of 46.37 while the 4x400m foursome ran 3:49.42.
The Rebels hit the road for the first time during the outdoor campaign with a trip to San Diego for the SDSU Aztec Invitational. The meet will span two days, March 28-29.
