Rebels Close Out Cal-Nevada Championships

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program closed out its stay in San Diego at the Cal-Nevada Championships on Saturday. The Rebels got an eighth-place finish from Adrianna Oliva in the shot put (43-8.5/13.32m). Three members of the squad - Courtney Allen, Iris Munguia and Ayana Gales - set personal bests on the final day of the meet between California and Nevada institutions.
Allen (4.46.63) and Munguia (5:12.32) finished 20th and 33rd, respectively, in the 1500m while teammate Alison Motor was 34th (5:40.03).
Juliet Summers helped the 4x100m relay (48.02) and the 4x400m relay (4:00.56) to 12th- and 15th-place finishes, respectively. Summers was grouped with Olivia Hudson, Krystal Wharton and Ayana Gales in the 4x100m. Allen, Noela Estrada and Rhea Hill joined her in the 4x400m race.
Gales, who competed in the 100m, 200m and the long jump on Friday, competed in the triple jump on Saturday and finished 18th overall with a measurement of 36-7.5 (11.16m).
Myra Dean registered a high jump of 5-2.25 (1.58m) while Cortney Miller tossed a distance of 163-6 (49.85m) in the hammer throw. Miller finished 10th overall.
After a weekend with the squad split in two, the Rebels will reconvene for the Fresno State Women's Challenge on Saturday, April 6 in Clovis, Calif.
