SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Three Rebel sprinters and one relay team turned in top preliminary times on the first day of the Cal-Nevada Championships held Friday at the SDSU Sports Deck.

Sophomore Halima DeCree (Bakersfield, Calif.) clocked in a time of 12.06 seconds in the 100 meters to advance to tomorrow's finals, while sophomores Kiyota Reed (Los Angeles) and Miesha McClendon (Pasadena, Calif.) each qualified for the finals of the 100 meter hurdles. Reed registered the second best time in the event with a season best 14.35. McClendon followed right behind with a time of 14.50.

In the finals of the 3,000 meters, sophomore Michele Suszek (Alpena, Mich.) placed 11th with a time of 10:30.85. Freshman Colleen O'Brien (Henderson, Nev.) finished 24th (11:12.73) and sophomore Kelley Wright (Houston, Texas) 25th (11:19.93).

UNLV's top relay team also advanced to tomorrow's finals with a third-place finish in the 4x100 preliminaries with a time of 47.30.

The Rebels will conclude meet competition tomorrow with field events beginning at 11 a.m. and running events at 1 p.m.
