Rebels Set Some Personal Bests At Relays

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team concluded its stay at the 56th Annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., at Hilmer Lodge Stadium Friday. The Rebels highest finish a fourth-place showing in the 4x100m relay by the quartet of Erin Morris, Monay Meggs, Ashley Franklin and Kenia Bonilla. The foursome ran a time of 45.99, which was 1.04 behind that of Central Florida's group that won the event.

In all, the Scarlet & Gray competed in a total of nine events and had seven of its own achieve personal-best times at one of the premier meets in the country. Those that set career marks were: Laura Affeld in the 3000m Steeplechase (10:58.21), Jordan Hardy in the 100m hurdles (14.62), Kenia Bonilla in the 100m (11.96), Noela Estrada in the 400m hurdles (1:00.98), Joniece Ervin in the 400m hurdles (1:01.40) and Alva Castillo in the 400m (55.07).

Besides the Rebels' 4x100m relay, three others finished within the top 15 in their respective events. Cortney Miller was 12th in the hammer throw (183-2/55.83m), Auzsane Crowe-Carter was 13th in the 800m (2:08.23) and Morris was 15th in the 100m hurdles (14.00).
