LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program witnessed 10 Rebels set personal bests in seven different events on Saturday night at the Beach Invitational in Norwalk, Calif. The meet, which was hosted by Long Beach State, was contested at Cerritos College.
Separate from the Beach Invite, Emily Blok ran individually in the 100m and 200m and as a member of the 4x100m relay on the final day of the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. All three races were in the Olympic Development sections. Blok finished fourth in the 100m (11.52) and third in the 200m (23.66). She partnered with Ashley Franklin, Monay Meggs and Uchechi Anunkor for a time of 45.17 - the best by a 4x100m relay quartet this season.
Lauren Petersen had the highest finish for UNLV in Norwalk with her 18:37.92 time in the 5000m, which was good enough for sixth place.
Erin Morris owned the second-highest placement by a Rebel with her seventh-place showing in the 100m hurdles (13.95). Morris legged out a personal-best time of 12.05 in the 100m (16th place).
Besides Morris' PB in the 100m, Olivia Hudson also achieved a best time in the event with a 12.63.
In the 800m, a trio of Rebels set individual bests led by Auzsane Crowe-Carter's 2:09.96 (12th). Miranda Menzies (2:13.74) and Rhea Hill (2:21.25) joined Crowe-Carter in the feat.
Alva Castillo (24.63) and Laura Affeld (27.80) ran personal bests in the 200m, while Ayana Gales had her best showing of the year in both the 100m hurdles (15.18) and the triple jump (11th, 38-3/11.66m).
The 4x400m relay team comprised of Menzies, Courtney Allen, Honeycutt and Crowe-Carter finished ninth with a final time of 3:53.68.
