Rebels Win Seven Events At Bulldog Invitational|

CLOVIS, California (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team registered 24 top-eight finishes at the Bulldog Invitational held at Buchanan High School's Veterans Memorial Stadium. Spencer Moore set a meet record in her first attempt at running the 3,000m this season with her first-place time of 10:04.61.
The Scarlet & Gray's first win of the day came from Kaysee Pilgrim in the high jump (5-10.75/1.80m). The remaining five wins were captured by the 4x100m relay `A' team of Kaysha Love, Destiny Smith-Barnett, Najia Hudspeth, Drea Austin (44.71); Taylor Pegram in the 100m hurdles (13.42); Najia Hudspeth in the 100m (11.49, PB) and 200m (23.24, PB); and the 4x400m relay foursome (3:41.24) of Nylia Hudspeth, Austin, Mandy Chitwood, Najia Hudspeth.
"We had a great showing today and I am proud of how many of our athletes stepped up and competed," said head coach Yvonne Wade. "It was a weekend where our focus was to work on specific things and load up on events and they really did a good job overall."
Four Rebels placed second in their respective field events with Jaela Williams in the long jump (19-4/5.89m), Danielle Williams in the triple jump (38-6.25/11.74m), Austin in the 100m (11.53) and Smith-Barnett in the 200m (23.54).
Select members also captured personal-best performances with Ayana Gales in the triple jump (third: 38-5.50/11.72m); Stella Clemens in the long jump (fifth: 19-0.5/5.80m) and 100m hurdles (16th, 14.85); Vanessa Sierra in the hammer (sixth: 170-01/51.85m) and discus throw (seventh: 152-11/46.60m); Lindy Eskin in the 1500m (11th: 4:54.40); and Taylor Forte (16th: 132-08/40.43m) in the hammer throw.
The Rebels got some strong performances in the track events from Nylia Hudspeth, Coquia, Love, Davis and Joniece Ervin. Hudspeth (55.90) and Coquia (56.41) finished third and seventh in 400m, respectively. Love claimed fourth in the 100m (11.91) while Davis (1:02.67) and Ervin (1:04.80) were third and sixth in the 400m hurdles, respectively.
The Rebels return to the Golden State next weekend for the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine at Anteater Stadium (April 28-29).
