Rebels Sit Fourth Overall After Heptathlon|

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team sits in fourth place after the first two days of the 2012 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships held in Colorado Springs, Colo. UNLV got four points from Taylar Mills (4,708 points) and two more from Rita Rudell (4,132) after the two finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the heptathlon. San Diego State's Allison Reaser won the event with a total of 5,653 points, which gave her squad a first-place lead with a total of 10 points.
Mills' finished second overall in the javelin with a toss of 122-4 (37.30m), which was her best effort in the heptathlon. She placed third in the high jump (5-1 / 1.55m). She was fourth in the shot put and long jump; fifth in the 800m and sixth in both the 100m hurdles and 200m.
Rudell's best showing came in the shot put with a second-place throw of 34-7 (10.54m). She was third in the high jump (5-1 / 1.55m). She was sixth in the long jump; seventh in the 100m hurdles, 200m and javelin; and eighth in the 800m.
The Rebels return to action tomorrow at 10:00 am with the hammer throw trials and finals. The 3000m steeplechase is the first event scheduled for the track at 1:00 pm.
