Bullocks Moves Into Finals

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - UNLV junior Brittney Bullocks advanced to the finals in the 400 meters Friday at the NCAA West Regional, held at the Matador Track and Field Complex and hosted by Cal State Northridge.
Bullocks cruised across the finish line in 54.89, which was the eighth-fastest time and assured the junior of a spot in Saturday's finals, which will be run at 4:15 p.m. (PDT). The top five finishers in each individual event and the top three finishers in the relays will automatically qualify for the 2008 NCAA Championships, which will be held in Des Moines, Iowa, June 11-14.
Lekeisha Lawson narrowly missed out advancing to the finals for the Rebels in the 100 meters, running a time of 11.77 during Friday's preliminaries, which was the 10th-fastest time of the day. She was just seven-hundredths of a second from the top eight, which moved on to Saturday's finals.
Bullocks and Lawson will both will run legs on the 400-meter relay team tomorrow, which also consists of Tanesha Carr and Lauren Johnson. The 400-meter relay team brings a time of 45.26 to the meet, which is the sixth-best time in a field of eight relay teams. Since there are only eight teams in the field, there was not a preliminary race and the finals will be run at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, marking the final race of the day.
