Jessica Marable Finishes 15th at NCAA Championships

Jessica Marable participated in her first NCAA Championship Thursday in the shot put, finishing with the 15th longest throw of the meet. Her mark of 51.275" (15.61 meters) was her longest of the season and set a school record. The winner of the event was senior Tressa Thompson of Nebraska who set a meet record with her throw of 61.225".
Jessica is one of two UNLV athletes participating in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Hydianne Harper is a qualifier in the 200-meter dash. She ran preliminaries Wednesday and finished third in her heat with a time of 23.39 (three-tenths off her best mark set at the WAC Championships last week). She has qualified for the semifinals which will take place Friday at 5:10pm.
