COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV senior Christine Spence finished second in the pentathlon at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships, which got underway Thursday and continues through Saturday at the Cadet Field House on the campus of Air Force.

Spence scored 3,958 total points to finish second to Amy Menlove of BYU, who won the five-event competition with 4,172 total points. Spence cleared 5'-9.25" to win the high jump and also won the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.28. The senior also finished second in the 60 meter hurdles and third in the long jump. Her title hopes were hurt by a 13th-place finish in the shot put though.

Spence earned UNLV eight team points, which put the Rebels in a second-place tie with Colorado State. BYU leads with 20 team points and Air Force is fourth with three.

Fellow UNLV senior Teri Trautwein finished 17th in the pentathlon, scoring 2,906 points.

The meet continues Friday and concludes on Saturday.
