LAS VEGAS - UNLV heads to Tempe for the ASU Clif Bar Invitational
The UNLV women's track and field team continues its outdoor season this week, traveling to the Arizona State Clif Bar Invitational, held at Sun Angel Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.
The meet actually gets underway today with the hammer throw, but the rest of the meet will be conducted on Saturday and the Rebels are part of a 17-team women's field. Men's collegiate teams will also be competing, as well as individuals that will include 2004 Olympic gold medalist Dwight Phillips.
UNLV head coach Barbara Ferrell-Edmonson and her assistants will be bringing 16 Rebel student-athletes to the meet as the team looks to qualify individuals for the NCAA Regional meet. Included in the group is Charlotte Browning, who won the 800 meters last weekend at the Rebels' home meet, and Aja Evans, who had two top-five performances at the meet.
The women's hammer throw will start at 5:00 p.m. (PT) on Friday night and then the meet resumes at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with the women's discus. The first running event of the day is the women's 100-meter hurdles at 4:00 p.m.
