LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program, who has already hosted two outdoor meets this season, will hit the road for the first time during the 2004 outdoor campaign this weekend at San Diego State's Aztec Invitational. The Rebels will only participate in the final two days (Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29) of the three-day meet, which begins Thursday, March 27.

The women's portion of the Invite will feature three top-25 programs in #2 Oregon, #7 USC and #11 SDSU. Besides those three squads and UNLV, Academy of Art, BYU, UC Colorado Springs, Grand Canyon, UC Riverside and UC San Diego will also compete in America's Finest City.

Four Rebels will see action on Friday with Kierra Day and Cortney Miller in the hammer throw (1:00 pm) at UC San Diego while Laura Affeld and Miranda Menzies will be representing the Scarlet & Gray at the AzTrack at the SDSU Sports Deck, as they run the 1500m (6:45 pm).

The remainder of UNLV's contingent will compete in a total of 14 events Saturday beginning with the 4x100m relay at 10:10 am. The first field event that the Rebels will take part in is the long jump at 10:30 am. The day will conclude with the 4x400m relay at 4:10 pm.

Most recently, the Rebels hosted the Randall Cunningham Invitational & Sheila Tarr-Smith Multis. They claimed first place in six overall events and had four others claim the top spot in the collegiate-only standings. Individual first-place finishes for UNLV were: Ashley Franklin in the 100m (11.91 PB); Monay Meggs in the 200 (24.14); Alva Castillo in the 400m (55.73 PB); Auzsane Crowe-Carter in the 1500m (4:31.90 PB); Noela Estrada in the 400m hurdles (1:02.75); Kylee Vandenberg in the heptathlon (4,646 points); Madison Johonnot in the high jump (5-4.25/1.63m); Akia Armstrong in the long jump (19-0.75/5.81m); and Cortney Miller in the hammer (182-4/55.57m).
