Rebels Travel to Mt. SAC Relays

LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's track and field team have a busy weekend ahead as several athletes will travel to the 51st Annual Mt. SAC Relays and the rest of the Rebels will travel to the Beach Invitational at Cerritos College.
A total of eight the Rebels will travel to the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., one of the top collegiate meets in the country that attracts the nation's top athletes. This meet is a chance for the Rebels to compete against quality competition while attempting to reach regional qualifying marks. Many Olympic athletes have competed in the Mt. SAC Relays prior to the Olympic Games.
"This is a very exciting weekend in track and field," said head coach Yvonne Scott-Williams. "The Mt. SAC Relays has always been a high-caliber meet where our team not only gets to see some of the elite track athletes but also get an opportunity to compete with them. I anticipate some great performances."
Lekeisha Lawson and Shahnel Woodley will run in the 100- and 200-meter dash, while Zadia Bryant will only run in the 100 meters. Candise Maxwell will also run in the 100 meters and then in the 100-meter hurdles. Christine Lowe will participate in the 400 meter hurdles.
Distance runners Isabelle Stoate and Jennifer Shearer will run in the 1,500 meters and the 5,000 meters, respectively. Representing the Rebels on the field will be Olivia Raya in the hammer throw. The UNLV 4x100 meter relay team also will be traveling to the Mt. SAC Relays.
The rest of the team will be competing in the Beach Invitational which will be held at Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif.
