Rebels Return To Golden State For Bulldog Invite|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team will return to the Golden State to participate in Fresno State's Bulldog Invitational Saturday, April 22. The Rebels have a total of 28 student-athletes entered in the one-day meet, which will take place at Buchanan High School's Veterans Memorial Stadium in nearby Clovis. Overall, UNLV will compete in 17 events (ten track and seven field).
UNLV’s 4x100m relay squad, which is ranked No. 15 in the country, will be made up of four student-athletes that sit between second and 10th in the 100m amongst Mountain West competition. Destiny Smith-Barnett, who ranks second in the Conference (11.21), will join Najia Hudspeth (seventh/11.63), Drea Austin (seventh/11.63) and Kaysha Love (10th/11.84) in hopes of securing a spot at the NCAA West Regional Championships, which accepts the top 24 relay teams.
The 4x400m relay will be comprised of eight of the following being showcased on ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams: Madison Aldred, Austin, Yamilet Biggers, Mandy Chitwood, Micayla Coquia, Hannah Davis, twins Najia and Nylia Hudspeth, Sydney Land and Stephanie Sawicki.
Heading into the meet, the Rebels are led by Taylor Pegram, who is coming off a great week after she broke her own outdoor program record in the 100m hurdles (13.37) at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Pegram’s time is good enough for first in the MW, 15th in the West Region and 28th in the nation.
Six more individuals are in the top four in Conference standings with Smith-Barnett (23.50) and Najia Hudspeth (23.67) sitting third and fourth the 200m, respectively, while Chitwood is third in the 800m (2:07.55). In the jumping events, the Rebels have Ayana Gales (first: 20.8/6.30m) and Jaela Williams (fourth: 19-6.75/5.96m) ranked highly in the long jump while Kaysee Pilgrim is fourth in the high jump (5-9.25/1.76m)
Joining UNLV and Fresno State in Clovis will be squads from Cal Poly, CSU Bakersfield, CSU Monterey Bay, Cal State Northridge, Fresno Pacific, Oregon State, Pacific, San Jose State, Santa Clara and Stanislaus St.
