Rebels Head To San Joaquin Valley For Meet|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team will participate in the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Fresno State Saturday. The majority of the meet will take place at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif., while all the throwing events are scheduled for Warmerdam Field on the university's campus.
Besides the Rebels and host Bulldogs, five other teams )San Jose State, CSU Bakersfield, Cal Poly, Pacific and Cal State Northridge) will participate in the one-day meet.
The day's schedule begins at 10:30 am at Warmerdam Field with Taylar Mills' and Vanessa Sierra's participation in the shot put. The hammer throw (Kyra Day, Cortney Miller and Sierra), javelin (Mills) and discus (Miller and Sierra) will follow the conclusion of the shot put.
Four field events (long jump, triple jump, pole vault and high jump) - beginning at 1:00 pm - will get things going at the stadium.
The men's 3000m Steeplechase will kick off the Invitational's track slate at 1:30 pm followed by the women's portion. UNLV's 4x100m relay quartet of Kenia Bonilla, Ashley Franklin, Monay Meggs and Erin Morris will be the first to represent the Scarlet & Gray on the track. In all, the Rebels will participate in nine other track events, including the 4x400m relay that will close out the meet.
Besides having the top 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams in the conference (based on 2014 times), the Rebels have six members of their team rank highly in six events. Monay Meggs, who will be making her first appearance in a 100m race at the Invitational, sits first in the 400m and second in the 200m. Alva Castillo sits second overall in the 400m, while Ashley Franklin is fourth in the 100m and Erin Morris is fifth in the 100m hurdles. Miller and Noela Estrada are sixth in the hammer throw and 400m hurdles, respectively.
After running in both the 100m and 200m earlier this season, Kenia Bonilla will try her hand at the 400m.
A new edition to the squad is Jazmyne Bartee, who is also a member of the Lady Rebel basketball team. Bartee will compete in the high jump
