LAS VEGAS ( - The UNLV track & field program will play host to its fourth meet of the 2013 season this weekend with the Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Myron Partridge Stadium & Sheila Tarr-Smith Field. The four-day meet gets going on Wednesday, May 8 and runs through Saturday, May 11. The first two days of competition will feature the men's decathlon and the women's heptathlon, while Friday and Saturday will see qualifying and final heats of events contested on the track as well as in the field.

Taylar Mills and Juliet Summerswill open up action for UNLV with their participation in the heptathlon. The duo will compete in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m on Wednesday. They will close out the event on Thursday with the long jump, javelin and 800m.

"We are so excited about finally hosting the Mountain West Championships on our home track," said head coach Yvonne Wade. "There is a lot of work that goes into hosting a meet of this size, but it is going to be a great one, and the team is fired up and ready to compete. We look forward to having a large number of Scarlet & Gray fans out to support our Rebels."

UNLV will be led into completion by Emily Blok, who is ranked first overall in both the 100m and 200m heading into the conference meet. Blok posted season bests in the 100m (11.46) at the Fresno State Women's Challenge and in the 200m (23.52) in the UNLV Invitational.

Not only will Blok be looked upon to do well as an individual, but she will also be a member of both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. Both relays sit atop the league's standings for each race to-date. She will partner with Monay Meggs and Uchechi Anunkor in both races, while Ashley Franklin and Alva Castillowill round out the 4x100m and 4x400m relay quartets, respectively.

Besides Blok having a foot in four different disciplines for the Scarlet & Gray, Myshauna Alexanderranks first overall in the javelin among conference competition. Alexander threw a season-best 158-9 (48.39m) at the Mt. SAC Relays. She will also compete in the hammer and discus throws, as well.

For the second straight year UNLV is looking to send five 800m runners to the finals. Freshman Auzsane Crowe-Carter has the best time for the Rebels this season with a 2:08.93 that occurred at the Drake Relays. Kelsey Williamson, the reigning MW champion in the outdoor 800m, will join Crowe-Carter, Corey Honeycutt, Courtney Allen and Miranda Menziesin the distance race.

Two other Rebels to look out for are freshmen Meggs and Ayana Gales, who will perform on the track and in the jumps, respectively. Besides running two legs of the relays, Meggs will run in the 200m and 400m. Gales will participate in the long jump and triple jump.

Last year in Colorado Springs, Colo., UNLV finished third overall at the outdoor meet. The Rebels got victories from Amanda Bingson in the hammer throw, Christine Lowe in the 400m hurdles, Williamson in the 800m and the 4x400m relay. In addition to the wins, they had a program-best 11 top-three finishes which, in turn, placed a record-setting eight individuals and two relay teams on the 2012 MW All-Conference Team.
