May 14, 2012
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team, fresh off its third-place finish at the Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships, had a record-setting eight individuals and two relay teams named to the 2012 MW All-Conference Team. In all, UNLV had 11 top-three finishes at this past weekend's meet. Emily Blok was the most decorated student-athlete after she made the team twice as an individual - 100m and 200m, and twice more as a member of 4x100m and 4x400m relay squads. Amanda Bingson was a three-time honoree after winning the hammer throw as well as earning the Outstanding Performance Award in as many years.
Dating back to 2006, the first year that the MW doled out all-conference awards, this year's squad had the most named to the team. The 11 top-three finishes were also the most by a UNLV squad since the league held its first meet in 2000.
Four of the relay members also turned in individual all-conference efforts. Lowe and Williamson won their events, the 400m hurdles and 800m, respectively. Yanez (200m) and Zorich (400m) both finished second in their respective events.
Erin Morris rounded out UNLV's all-conference track performers with her third-place showing.
Myshauna Alexander joined Bingson in earning all-conference honors for the field competitors with her third-place finish in the javelin.
