UNLV senior Lekeisha Lawson will be making a second straight trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

June 2, 2009

LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior sprinter Lekeisha Lawson earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 2008 meters it was announced today, and the national championships will be held June 10-13 in Fayetteville, Ark.

Lawson ran a time of 23.86 in the 200 meters at the NCAA West Regional to finish seventh, and that was fast enough to earn an invite to the national championships. Lawson will bring the 24th-fastest time in the country to the national meet in Arkansas next week. This will be the second straight trip to the NCAA Championships for Lawson, who ran a leg on the Rebels' 4x100 meter relay team that earned a trip to the national meet last season.

She joins Rebel junior Candise Maxwell, who finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.48 at the NCAA West Regional this past weekend to earn an automatic bid. That time, which was a season best for Maxwell, is the 25th-fastest time in the nation.
