June 3, 2008
LAS VEGAS - UNLV track and field junior Brittney Bullocks and the 4x100 meter relay team were named to the All-West Region team, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced this week. To be considered All-Region, the student-athlete must have placed in the top eight of his or her respective event.
Bullocks and her relay teammates were part of 51 Mountain West Conference student-athletes and five MWC relay teams who were named to their respective All-Region teams. She crossed the finish line in a time of 55.00 in the 400 meters to come in seventh place last Saturday, finishing just two spots away from earning a trip to the NCAA Championships.
Bullocks also ran a leg on the 4x100 meter relay team that finished third at the NCAA West Regional with a time of 44.91 and advanced to the NCAA Championships. Bullocks was joined on the team by Tanesha Carr, Lauren Johnson and Lekeisha Lawson, and the time was a season best for the squad and tied for the fifth-fastest in Rebel history.
UNLV finished just ahead of Mountain West Conference rival San Diego State for the final of three relay spots that advanced to the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 11-14.
