Spence Finishes Sixth At Nationals

(UNLVRebels.com) - Former Rebel student-athlete Christine Spence finished sixth overall in the women's 400m hurdles Saturday afternoon at the 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., while Chelsea Cassulo and Amanda Bingson were ninth and 14th, respectively, in the hammer throw. Spence, who ran a 56.26 in her semifinal heat Friday, crossed the finish line in 55.99 today. Cassulo fouled on her first two attempts before throwing a personal-best distance of 210-10 (64.26m) on her third and final toss. Bingson opened up with a 200-6 (61.11m) and improved to 203-5 (62.02m) in her second, but faulted in her third and final attempt. Assistant coach Khadevis Robinson is the last of the quartet with ties to UNLV competing at the national championships at Hayward Field. Robinson has won both of his heats in the men's 800m run and will vie for the national title on Sunday afternoon at 2:27 pm.
