July 1, 2012
EUGENE, Ore. (UNLVRebels.com) - Former UNLV student-athlete Christine Spence's bid for this summer's London Olympics came up short with her seventh-place finish in the women's 400m hurdles final at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Spence ran the race in a time of 55.72.
Spence, who ran for the Rebels from 2001-05, was one of four athletes with connections to UNLV along with Lekeisha Lawson, Amanda Bingson and Khadevis Robinson. Lawson finished 13th overall in the women's 100m dash (semifinals), while Bingson and Robinson were both second in the women's hammer throw and the men's 800m race, respectively. Bingson and Robinson will represent the Scarlet & Gray in London, and they will compete for the Red, White & Blue.
