LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program has signed 11 individuals to participate in the upcoming 2014-15 season, announced head coach Yvonne Wade. The class features seven incoming student-athletes from California, two from Nevada, and one apiece from Arizona and Texas.
"We are very excited about this recruiting class," said head coach Yvonne Wade. "Our goal was to add top student-athletes to the UNLV family and we did just that. With the addition of top-ranked athletes like Destiny Smith-Barnett, MacKenna Howard, and others to join our already young team, we plan to do some exciting things moving forward."
Five of the signees - Rebecca Hobby, Vannessa Martinez, Spencer Moore, Nikki Regalado and Angela Ziff - will not only compete for the track & field program, but will also run cross country in the fall for UNLV track & field assistant and head cross country coach Jebreh Harris. The quintet will run distance races with the track squad.
Verondrea Austin (sprints), Howard (throws), Amari Norris (hurdles/multis), Taylor Pegram (sprints/hurdles), Smith-Barnett (sprints) and Asia Watts (sprints) round out the 11 coming to UNLV in the fall of 2014.
