LONDON (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV student-athlete Amanda Bingson finished 28th overall in the women's hammer throw at the 2012 London Olympics held at Olympic Stadium. Bingson, who competed in the second flight, registered a distance on each of her three throws with her final attempt measuring a distance of 220-9 (67.29m).

Bingson, a Las Vegas product and Silverado High School graduate, and her two U.S. teammates - Amber Campbell and Jessica Cosby - came up short in their bids to advance to Friday's final. Campbell (229-5/69.93m) and Cosby (228-6/69.65m) were on the bubble of making the final cut after their trio throws in the opening flight, but mustered 13th- and 14th-place finishes, respectively. Only the top 12 distances advanced.

Poland's Anita Wlodarczyk outdistanced herself from the field of 37 participants with her measurement of 248-3 (75.68), which was nearly four feet further than China's Wenxiu Zhang second-place toss of 244-6 (74.44).

Bingson's outing rounds out the competition schedule for those that have donned the Scarlet & Gray. UNLV assistant track & field coach Khadevis Robinson ran in the men's 800m for the U.S. this past Monday, while three former student-athletes - Joe Bartoch (Canada), Richard Hortness (Canada) and Zsuzsanna Jakabos (Hungary) - swam for their respective countries.
