UNLV: Michelle returns to the Rebel volleyball team for her third season. 2002: Michelle elected to redshirt the 2002 season and rehab after shoulder surgery. 2001: In what was a breakout year, Johnson posted career-highs in every category in 2001. Playing alongside Ocasio-Clemente, she knocked down a career-high 127 total blocks on the season. She also tallied 226 kills, fourth best on the team. One of her best matches came against New Orleans (Sept. 1) where she posted a double-double 11 kills and 11 blocks. Over the summer, Michelle was the starting right side for the USA Select team at the Spring Cup in Porec, Croatia. 2000: Michelle played in 16 matches and 51 games in 2000 with 43 total blocks. Her 0.84 blocks per game average was third best on the team. She hit .538 (7-0-13) against No. 16 BYU (Oct. 19).

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2000 graduate of Yucaipa High School in Yucaipa, Calif. ... played volleyball and participated in track & field for four years ... volleyball team was co-league champion her junior and senior seasons ... was the team's MVP her senior year ... led the team in blocks and kills ... was first-team all-league and was selected all-tournament twice ... was named best defensive player her junior year ... led the team with most blocks and was first-team all-league ... played in 1999 for Club Olimpico-Argentina and in 1998 for Redlands Volleyball Club ... was named San Bernardino County Sun and Riverside County Press-Enterprise Athlete of the Week in 1999 ... was named a Yucaipa HS Athlete of the Week in 1998 and 1999 and was a scholar-athlete all four years of high school ... in track she was a member of the 4x200 and 8x100 relay teams that broke the school record ... is a California Scholarship Federation (CSF) honors graduate.

PERSONAL: Michelle Leigh Johnson was born on Feb. 3, 1982 in Los Angeles, Calif. ... the daughter of Gordon and Leslie Johnson ... both her parents went to BYU ... has a twin brother, Marc, another brother, Craig and a sister, Robin ... her uncle, Ralph Bobik, played basketball at Creighton and with the Phoenix Suns ... majoring in nursing ... has participated in community service with Meals on Wheels, highway and community clean-up projects and was a translator/nurse's aide in an Argentine hospital when she was a foreign exchange student.
