Volleyball Drops Four-Game Match To Ball State

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV volleyball team (3-3) fell to Ball State 3-1 (30-20, 30-27, 27-30, 30-25) on the final day of the Gameworks/UNLV Classic in the Cox Pavilion. California defeated Texas Tech 3-0 (30-22, 30-19, 30-22) to claim the tournament title.

UNLV's Tarin Keith posted her first double-double of the season with 17 kills and 12 digs. Nicki King finished the match one dig shy of her first double-double. She tallied nine digs and 47 assists.

Leiana Oswald hammered down 19 kills to go along with six digs. Christina Kirschner added ten kills and five blocks, while Tera Mayes contributed seven digs, two service aces and an assist.

Patricia Assuncao finished the match with ten kills, three digs and five block assists. She was honored with a spot on the all-tournament team after posting 38 kills, 25 digs and a .357 attack percentage in three matches.

Ball State was led by Sarah Obras' 18 kills and ten digs. She also found a spot on the all-tournament team.

UNLV continues tournament play with a trip to Chicago for the DePaul Blue Demon Invitational. The Rebels will join Oregon and Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the two-day tournament September 13-14.
