LAS VEGAS - The UNLV volleyball team fell to 16th ranked Utah 3-1 (29-31, 30-26, 21-30, 20-30) on Friday night in the Cox Pavilion. With the loss, the Rebels fall to 4-10 on the season, 0-1 in Mountain West Conference play. The Utes improve to 11-3, 1-0 in league play.

Leiana Oswald led the Rebels with 13 kills. She also finished with five digs and two assists.

Patricia Assuncao and Shannon Chase added 12 kills each. This game marked the first game for Chase as an outside hitter. She had previously played libero. Nina Franchini took over libero duties and finished with a match-high 16 digs.

Sheila Ocasio-Clemente posted six blocks, one solo and five assisted. She also added three kills.

Nicki King tallied 39 assists, ten digs and three block assists, while Blair Wilkes blocked four balls and added five kills.

The Utes were led by Sylva Strzinkova's 21 kills and 12 digs.

UNLV hosts BYU on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion. Saturday night is "Picture Night" with the Rebels. Fans can have their picture taken with the team following the match, compliments of the UNLV Marketing Office.
