ALBUQUERQUE (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebels (8-9 overall, 1-3 Mountain West) dropped a straight-set match (3-0) to the New Mexico Lobos (10-6, 3-1) Thursday night at the Johnson Center in Albuquerque. The loss was the third straight for UNLV, both overall and in conference play. New Mexico claimed the match with set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-16.

The Rebels hit .133 in the match with their best output coming in the first frame with a .345 effort. Unfortunately, they followed the first with a .133 in the second and a lackluster -.026 in the third and final set. UNLV had 32 kills and 19 errors on 98 attempts.

UNLV was led by eight kills from Makenzie Moea'i on .235 hitting. Moea'i also had four digs and an assist.

Candice Thomas and Madeline Westman both had five kills and two blocks (one solo). Westman led the team with her .400 hitting on the day.

Stephanie Thelen dished out a team-high 28 assists and chipped in five digs and two kills, as well.

Allison Davies topped all defenders with 10 digs, while Taylor Richard was second with seven of her own. Richard also had four kills, one ace and a solo block.

The match featured 17 ties and seven lead changes with the majority of both occurring in the first set. The opening stanza witnessed the teams tie things up 10 times and trade the lead on five occasions.

UNM had three attackers tally double digits in kills with Kelly Williamson's 14, while Chantale Riddle and Ashley Rhoades had 11 apiece. Williamson hit .370 and had seven digs and two blocks (one solo). Riddle topped out with a match-high .500 hitting efficiency.

The Lobos, on the other hand, hit .349 overall and no worse than .222 in any stanza. They topped out with a .457 effort in the second. They threw down 51 kills and committed 14 errors in 106 swings.



Mariah Agree led all setters with 38 assists and added eight digs, three kills and three blocks.

Allison Buck topped all defensive players in digs with 12, but also had six assists and an ace.

UNLV returns to action Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm CT (11:00 am PT) in Forth Worth against the TCU Horned Frogs.
