PROVO, Utah - The UNLV volleyball team picked up its second win over BYU in as many years with a 3-1 (17-30, 30-27, 30-18, 30-25) victory on Friday night at the Smith Fieldhouse in Provo. It is the third straight win for the Rebels who had lost ten in a row prior to the win streak.

With the win, the Rebels improve to 7-14, 3-5 in the Mountain West Conference. The Cougars fall to 9-13, 4-4 in league play.

Patricia Assuncao led the Rebels with 13 kills. She also tallied eight digs and four blocks.

Blair Wilkes and Leiana Oswald finished with 12 kills each. Wilkes knocked down four blocks while Oswald added six digs. Wilkes also hit a team-high .409 (12-3-22) in the match.

Christina Kirschner put up six blocks in the match to go along with three kills and a dig.

Nicki King added 44 assists, eight digs, two blocks and a pair of kills in the match.

Nina Franchini, playing libero, led the team with 18 digs.

BYU was led by Kimberly Wilson's 17 kills.

UNLV travels to Utah for a 6 p.m. match on Saturday night.
