Box Score

BOISE, Idaho (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to the Boise State Broncos at Bronco Gym Thursday night. The Broncos (13-10, 6-5 MW) won the Mountain West match over the Rebels (8-16, 4-7 MW) with set scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-14.

BSU outhit UNLV by 153 points (.313 to .160) with assistance of seven more kills (42-35) and seven fewer errors (11-18) in seven fewer attack attempts (99-106). The hosts opened the match hitting .242 in the first set and improved in each subsequent set with a .323 effort in the second and a .371 in the third. The Rebels, on the other hand, stayed within a range of .143 (third set) and .182 (second set) throughout the contest.

STAT OF THE GAME: BSU’s attackers limited its errors to three in both the second and third sets, and five in the first, which helped the team notch .242 or better hitting efficiencies in each stanza.

REBEL OF THE GAME: Elsa Descamps hit a team-best .333 with seven kills against one error in 18 swings. Descamps also added three digs and one assisted block.

QUOTABLE: “We played good volleyball up until about 10 points, but let Boise State go on some big runs every time,” said head coach Cindy Fredrick. “Errors played a big part as we missed a lot of serves and had too many errors tonight.”

REBEL NOTES:
*Mariena Hayden had one ace in the match, and that gave her 33 for the year. That tally moved her into a 10th-place tie in the program’s single-season record book with former Rebel Melody Nua (2005).

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels will travel to Logan, Utah, to face the Utah State Aggies Saturday at 11:00 am PT (12:00 pm MT).

REBELS RETURN HOME: With the conclusion of this week’s road trip, UNLV will return to Las Vegas and the Cox Pavilion to host the Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack and San Jose State Spartans. The Rebels and Wolf Pack will square off Thursday, November 2 (6:00 pm) in a meeting with Governor’s Series presented by NV Energy and Barrick Gold implications. The Spartans will come to town for a Saturday matinee at 12:00 pm Pt.
