Volleyball Falls In Five At NAU

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Leiana Oswald recorded 20 kills against Northern Arizona on Tuesday night, but it was not enough as the Lumberjacks rallied from a 2-1 defecit to defeat UNLV 3-2 (30-18, 26-30, 27-30, 34-32, 15-6) in the Rolle Activity Center. It was the first meeting between the two schools in 17 years and snapped a five-match win streak for the Rebels in the series.

With the loss, the Rebels fall to 8-17 on the season. The Lumberjacks improve to 9-14.

In addition to her 20 kills, Oswald also finished with a team-high 18 digs and two block assists.

Christina Kirschner added 14 kills and seven digs, while Jodi Hendricks posted 10 kills in only three games played.

Patricia Assuncao finished with nine kills and 11 digs. Amy Lewis added 11 digs in one of her biggest matches of the season.

Nicki King talled 57 assists, handling a majority of the setter duties against the Lumberjacks. Adriana Franco played only one game and finished with four assists.

UNLV hosts San Diego State on Saturday at 7 p.m. Prior to the match, the team will honor its three senior members as they play in their final home conference matches.
