UNLV Defeats Air Force in Season Finale|

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - In its final match of the season, the UNLV volleyball team defeated the Air Force Academy Tuesday night, 15-4, 11-15, 15-9, 15-13 in a Western Athletic Conference match at Clune Arena.
The Rebels, who finished the year with an overall record of 9-18 and 2-12 in the WAC, were led by sophomore middle blocker Christel Eves who recorded 11 kills with only one error for a hitting percentage of .556. Freshman outside hitter Justine Kamelamela (14 kills, 13 digs) and sophomore outside hitter Elizabeth Goyet (14 kills, 10 digs) each recorded double-doubles. UNLV had four players in double digits in kills and four with double digits in digs. Air Force (5-27, 0-14 WAC) was led by Brooke Effland's match-high 22 kills.
Air Force opened the match with a two-point lead, but the Rebels would take control from that point outscoring the Falcons 15-2 to win game one in only 11 minutes. UNLV outhit Air Force .333 to .000 for the game. The Rebels started game two just as they finished the first game. UNLV jumped out to a 6-0 advantage but Air Force battled back, tying the score at 10. Air Force went ahead from there to take the game. The Falcons hit .306 to UNLV's .163 for game two.
UNLV took a 6-1 advantage to start the third game, but Air Force came back to tie the score at six. The Rebels rolled from that point, outscoring the Falcons 9-3. UNLV recorded 26 kills to Air Force's 15 and 23 digs to 15 for the Falcons in game three. With the fourth game knotted up at 13, freshman middle blocker Michele Peoples recorded the go-ahead kill, while junior outside hitter Staci Smith ended the match with a kill.
