LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team's incoming freshman class has been ranked as one of the top-100 classes in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com.
The Rebels were listed in the "High Honorable Mention" category - No. 57-100 - along with fellow Mountain West foes: Air Force, Boise State and Utah State. San Diego State was the only MW squad to earn an overall ranking at #25, while New Mexico was in the "Highest Honorable Mention" classification, which covered No. 32-56.
"We are excited about the 2014 recruiting class, and the recognition they have received," said head coach Cindy Fredrick. "Overall, this is probably our strongest class since we have been at UNLV. We have representation in every position, which gives us depth. I think our fans will enjoy watching these young women compete."
The volleyball program added Haley Bilbruck (outside hitter), Ashley Owens (middle blocker), Alexis Patterson (setter/outside hitter) and Caitlin Wernentin (outside hitter) during the fall signing period.
UNLV is coming off a 16-14 season and a fourth-place finish (tie) in the MW after an 11-9 record in league play. Four starters - Allison Davies, Daryn Glenn, Carly Riehl and Katlin Winters - return to the court in 2014 for the Rebels.
