June 7, 2018
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball program will play a total of 30 regular-season matches during the 2018 campaign, with 15 of those taking place inside the friendly confines of the Cox Pavilion. The fall slate, the first under head coach Dawn Sullivan, will feature 18 contests against Mountain West foes as well as 12 more versus nonconference competition.
Additionally, the team will host its Scarlet & Gray Scrimmage and an exhibition against Northern Arizona on August 11 and 18, respectively.
Breaking the schedule down even further, the Rebels have a total of three matches against two squads that competed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. UNLV will face Colorado State, a team that ended the year ranked No. 24 in the AVCA Top 25 poll behind a 29-4 overall record, twice during conference play, while a meeting with LIU Brooklyn (20-10) will take place at home in the season-opening UNLV Invitational.
The Scarlet & Gray’s first 12 contests will be played over the first four weekends with a pair of home tournaments and two more on the road. The Rebels will welcome Indiana, Southern Utah and the aforementioned LIU Brooklyn to Las Vegas in late August to kick off the year. Two weeks later (September 7-8), Fordham, Cal State Fullerton and Eastern Kentucky will come to town for the Rebel Challenge. The squad will travel to Pittsburgh for the Duquesne Invitational (Youngstown State, Duquesne and Bowling Green) on August 31-September 1 as well as St. Louis (Murray State, UMKC and Saint Louis).
In all, UNLV will face teams from the Atlantic 10 (three), Big Sky (one), Big Ten (one), Big West (one), Horizon (one), Mid-American (one), Northeast Conference (one), Ohio Valley (two) and Western Athletic (one).
MW action begins on September 20 at home against Boise State following the trek to the Show Me State. The Rebels will square off twice (home and away) against Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, San Jose State and UNR, but only play BSU (home) and Utah State (away) once in the 18-match slate.
