LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Alexis Patterson, an incoming freshman for the UNLV volleyball program, was named the West Valley Preps' Girls Athlete of the Year. The Northwest Christian School graduate claimed nearly half of the votes (5,118 to 9,851) in a poll that spanned the Arizona communities of Glendale, Peoria, Surprise and Sun Cities to take home the regional honor.
Patterson, a four-year letterwinner from Phoenix, helped guide the Crusaders to the state championship in 2013 - the program's third in four years. She led the squad in kills (354) and finished second in sets, aces and blocks.
"It's very exciting to see Lexie honored with this award," said Rebel head coach Cindy Fredrick. "There are so many talented athletes in her area, so this speaks highly of Lexie's talent and dedication to her sport. Our staff is looking forward to Lexie joining the team this fall."
