RENO, Nev. - The UNLV volleyball team (6-1) pushed its winning streak to five matches after defeating Nevada, Reno (2-3) by a score of 3-1 on Friday night at the AT&T Invitational in Reno, Nev. The Rebels have now won nine of 15 match-ups with the Wolf Pack, which includes two-straight victories. UNLV won the match by scores of 26-30, 30-17, 30-27, 30-16.

In a change of play, the Rebels lost the first game of the match for only the second time this season. UNLV went into the match with a 5-1 overall mark in the first frame, but now sit at 5-2. The Rebels improved to 6-1 in the second stanza, which was also the best frame in the 2006 season (21-9, 70%).

The Rebel offense was a bit woeful in game one, but came alive in the remaining three. UNR out-hit UNLV .217-to-.057 in that first game. From game two on the Rebels offense was alive and well. UNLV managed to hit at a blistering .459 clip in game two, which saw the Rebels hit only one error (18 kills, one error, 37 attempts). The Rebels came close to matching game-two's effort with a .441 (19-4-34) in the fourth. For the match, UNLV out-hit UNR .261-to-.162.

The Rebels were led offensively by Maria Aladjova's sixth double-double of the season. Aladjova threw down 18 kills and a match-high 23 digs. Besides contributing defensively in the digs department, Aladjova assisted on four blocks.

UNLV had three other attackers rack up double-digit kill figures with Jessica Walters leading the way with 20. Lauren Miramontes and Samantha Noland rounded out the foursome with 17 and 10 kills, respectively. Noland's .389 hitting percentage was the highest tallied by a Rebel.



Melody Nua led the Rebels in assists with 38. Alyssa Erickson dished out nine helpers, while Camille Cunningham had eight.

Jada Walker and Cunningham joined Aladjova in double-digit digs. Walker stopped 22 Wolf Pack attacks, while Cunningham did the same on 17 occasions.

UNR only had two players reach double-digit kill tallies with Teal Ericson notching 24 and Karly Sipherd getting 12. Ashley Miller assisted on 41 of the 50 kills, while Allison Hernandez had 17 digs.

The Rebels return to action Saturday in the AT&T Invitational with a split doubleheader. UNLV faces Washington State at 10:00 am and then plays at 5:00 pm against Hofstra.
