Suszek leads Rebels with fifth-place finish.

LAS VEGAS - Michele Suszek finished fifth and UNLV took 10th overall as a team, as the UNLV cross country team competed on Saturday at the UC Irvine Invitational at Central Park in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Suszek ran the 5k course in a time of 18:58.9, finishing just over 42 seconds outside of first place. Also running for the Rebels were Ashley Pierce, who finished 57th with a time of 20:38.2, Samantha Serrano (76th, 21:15.6), Sarah Loughlin (86th, 21:31.9), Leta Rose (88th, 21:38.7), Katie Hughes (89th, 21:43.6), Erin Hammond (90th, 21:45.6) and Heather Walsh (101st, 22:16.5). UNLV finished the meet with 251 team points to place 10th out of 14 teams.
Brianna Carstensen of Azusa Pacific won the race with a time of 18:16.0. UC San Diego won the team title with 74 points. Host UC Irvine finished second with 86.

UNLV will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 25, when it travels to Palo Alto, Calif., to compete at the Stanford Invitational.
