SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The UNLV women's cross country team ran against some tough competition Saturday morning at the Aztec Invitational, finishing 17th overall at the meet held at Balboa Park.

The Rebels totaled 402 points at the invite, as senior Jenni Shearer took an impressive 15th place with a time of 18:26 individually on the 5k course. Overall the Rebels had three runners, Shearer, senior Isabelle Stoate in 78th at 19:31, and sophomore Ashley Silva 89th at 19:38 finish in the top 100.

Azusa Pacific finished first with 96 points and had sophomore Jacky Kipwanbok take the individual title with a time of 17:13. Northern Arizona University came in second with 102 points, and UC Santa Barbara rounded out the top three teams with 143 points.

Other Rebels that ran were freshmen Erin Murphy who placed 145th with a time of 21:22, Amber Throop finishing 153rd with a time of 21:43, and Brett Zorich finishing 159th at 22:23.

UNLV's next meet will take place at UC Riverside in Riverside, Calif. on Sept. 27.
