UNLV Runs At UCR Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UNLV cross country finished 18th with 513 points this Saturday morning at the 26th annual UC Riverside Invitational at the UCR Agricultural Course.
It was the third straight meet for the Rebels in the Golden State after they opened their season at UC Irvine and then ran at the Aztec Invitational in consecutive weeks. UNLV had last weekend off.
The Rebels were once again paced by sophomore Jenni Shearer, who finished 63 rd overall, covering the 5,000 meter course in a time of 19:38. That time was the fastest of the season for Shearer, and it was third-consecutive meet that Shearer has been UNLV's highest placer.
UCR dominated the meet, as the host Highlanders won the team title with a total of 19 points and had five runners place in the top 10. The individual title went to Heather Frisone of Cal Coast Technical College, as she crossed the finished line in a time of 17:30.80.
Ali Ainsworth was the next Rebel to cross the finish line, finishing 157th with a time of 21:26. Laura Lundin (22:09) was next in 171st, followed by Ernestine Johnson (22:52) in 181st, Ashley Lif (24:53) in 197th and then Tanesha Carr (27:29) in 209th.
The Rebels will be at home next weekend, hosting the UNLV Invite on Oct. 7 at Floyd Lamb State Park.
