Rebels Place 18th In The Golden State

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebel cross country team finished 18th overall with 383 points at Santa Clara University's Bronco Invitational held at Bayside Park in Sunnyvale, Calif. Lauren Petersen paced the Rebel contingent for the fourth consecutive outing, as she finished 24th with a time of 17:43.4.
Petersen's finish was the second for her under 18 minutes this season, as she ran the UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational in a span of 17:32.9 nearly a month ago.
Long Beach State won the event outdistancing itself from 2nd place Idaho State. LBSU amassed a total of 50 points with all five of its scorers placing between fourth and 15th out of 147 runners, while ISU followed with 130 points of its own at the course ran near the southern tip of San Francisco Bay.
Pepperdine, who finished eighth overall, had the top-two finishers on the day with Lauren Lodge (16:50.4) and Chelsea Wishard (16:57.8) claiming first and second, respectively.
Sarah Muniz finished 59th with a time of 18:14.6. Alison Bartosch came in 100th (18:46.5), while Courtney Allen was 114th (19:10.9) and Ali Motor was 116th (19:56.6). Lucy Beuster closed out the race 125th (20:04.9), while Samantha Swan was 126th (21:29.5).
The Rebels return to action in Laramie, Wyo., when they participate in the Mountain West Conference Championships on Oct. 29.
