SUNNYVALE, Calif. - The UNLV women's cross country team concluded its regular season Saturday morning successfully, with a 10th place finish at the Bronco Invitational, which was run at Baylands Park.
Senior Jenni Shearer shined for the Rebels again as she ran to a fourth-place finish with a time of 17:34. Shearer's time is another best in the UNLV record books, ranking seventh on the all-time performances list. Along with Shearer, the UNLV had two other runners finish in the top 65. Senior Isabelle Stoate ran her best race of the season finishing 25th with a time of 18:07 and sophomore Ashley Silva had her best time as a Rebel, placing 64th with a time of 18:48.
"Today was a solid outing for our team and Jenni is where we want her to be heading into the championship portion of our schedule," head coach Tony Houchin said. "Isabelle is showing consistency running at a higher level and Ashley ran a personal-best time at UNLV. The freshmen are also really coming along and the league championships in two weeks should be a lot of fun."
The Rebels finished 10th out of 17 teams in the Bronco Invitational. Long Beach State took the top spot in the meet with host Santa Clara, Nevada, Sacramento State, and New Mexico State rounding out the top fives teams. Mountain West Conference opponent San Diego State finished ninth, right in front of the Rebels. UNLV's 10th-place finish is the second consecutive meet that the squad has finished in that spot.
