Rebels Participated At Conference Meet Friday|

USAFA, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The Rebel cross country team finished 11th overall at the 2013 Mountain West Cross Country Championships on Friday. Both the men's 8K and women's 6K were contested at the Eisenhower Golf Club's Blue Course on the grounds of the United States Air Force Academy.
UNLV finished the race with a team score of 330 and a total time of 2:06.54.78. Sara Williams was the top finisher for the Scarlet & Gray with a 57th-place showing and a final time of 24:15, which was a personal best.
Four other Rebels scored in the race with Auzsane Crowe-Carter placing 65th in 24:59.68, while Miranda Menzies was 68th (25:38.58), Amanda Berg was 69th (25:49.00) and Ryanne Bailey was 71st (26:12.51). Arielle Steimer-Barragan also ran in the meet and crossed the finish line in 26:59.39.
"We did not perform the way we can and should have today," said Rebel cross country head coach Jebreh Harris. "We need to get better and we need to improve with a sense of urgency. We are better than what we showed today.
New Mexico swept the conference titles for the fifth straight year. Its men's team claimed its fifth consecutive league crown, while the women notched their sixth in a row behind a team score of 16.
Boise State, who finished second overall on the women's side with a team score of 40, was paced by Emma Bates and Marisa Howard and their first- and third-place finishes. The former ran the race in 20:48.15, while the latter ran 21:18.58.
UNM had two harriers finish in the top five with Samantha Silva in third (21:12.10) and Charlotte Arter (21:30.95) in fourth. Air Force's Hannah Everson was fifth in 21:41.07.
