Suszek Paces Rebels At NCAA Regionals|

GRESHAM, Ore. - UNLV junior Michele Suszek placed 66th to lead the Rebels at the 2003 NCAA Women's Cross Country Regionals, held on Saturday afternoon at Blue Lake Park in Gresham, Ore.
Suszek's time of 22:20 for the 6k race was the best of the five Rebels participating in the event. Also running for UNLV was Sarah Loughlin, finishing 176th at 24:17, Ashley Pierce (182nd, 24:26), Heather Walsh (189th, 24:45), and Erin Hammon (190th, 24:46). The Rebels finished with 793 points to place them 28th out of 31 teams. This is just the second year that UNLV has sent a full team to the NCAA Regionals.
Stanford placed two runners in the top three and three in the top 10 to win the overall team title with 45 points, while UCLA was second with 69 and Washington was third with 94. Junior Alicia Craig of Stanford won the individual regional championship for the second straight year in a time of 20:06. She was followed by Arizona State's Amy Hastings (20:22) in second and teammate Sara Bei (20:27) in third.
The top two teams and the top four individuals at the regionals will advance to the national championship meet on Nov. 24 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The West regional was one of nine NCAA regionals being held.
