July 8, 2013
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country program unveiled its 2013 schedule on Monday, and the Rebel harriers are slated to run in four regular-season competitions between September and October prior to the 2013 Mountain West Championships and NCAA West Regionals in November.
The Rebels will open up their season for the third consecutive year at Nevada, Reno's Natures Bakery Twilight Classic at Shadow Mountain Park in Sparks, Nev. The evening race will take place on Sept. 7.
"I am looking forward to my first full cross country season here at UNLV," said head coach Jebreh Harris, who was hired in Sept. 2012 to oversee the cross country team as well as the middle- and long-distance athletes. "We lost some strong seniors from last year's team, but we have a young and strong group of women who are ready and willing to take our program to another level. I am confident that as we grow together as Rebels, we will accomplish our program and personal goals."
After its trip to Reno, UNLV will head west to Kaneohe, O'ahu to run in Hawai'i's Big Wave Invitational on Sept. 14.
Following a short break, the Rebels return to Las Vegas to run in their own UNLV Cross Country Invitational at Sunset Park on Sept. 28.
The regular season concludes with a short trip to La Jolla, Calif., for UC San Diego's Triton Classic on Oct. 12.
The MW Championships are slated to take place on Nov. 1, in Colorado Springs, Colo. (Air Force), while the NCAA West Regionals will take place two weeks later on Nov. 15 in Sacramento, Calif. (Sacramento State). The NCAA Championships are set for Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind. (Indiana State).
