LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country program unveiled its 2014 fall schedule on Monday. The Rebel harriers are slated to compete in four meets prior to the 2014 Mountain West Championships and the NCAA West Regional.
The three-month schedule kicks off with the first of four trips to the Golden State with the Fresno State Invitational on Sept. 5 in Fresno, Calif. UNLV will also visit California on Oct. 18 for Santa Clara's Bronco Invitational, Oct. 31 for the Mountain West Championships in Fresno and Nov. 14 for the NCAA West Regional in Palo Alto.
The Rebels will host their own UNLV Invitational on Sept. 20 at Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas. The one-day meet, which begins at 7:30 am, will be comprised of six races: college/university men's 6K, college/university women's 5K, varsity boys 5K, varsity girls 5K, junior varsity boys 5K and junior varsity girls 5K.
Besides the one home meet and the quartet in California, UNLV will run at the Color Invitational on Oct. 3 in Cedar City, Utah.
"We are excited about the upcoming season," said head cross country coach Jebreh Harris. "With the additions we have arriving this fall to compliment our program, we are determined to have a competitive and productive season. I know that our Rebels are as ready as I am to get the season started."
The squad will be heavy on upper classmen with three seniors and six juniors to go along with three sophomores and four freshmen. Senior Auzsane Crowe-Carter will lead the team after she finished 15th or better in four meets one year ago.
